Stop Smoking And Start Vaping

How many of us make a New Year's Resolution and actually stick to it? Do we always set the bar too high; is that our downfall? Do we choose resolutions that are too difficult to stick with? Or is it that we make resolutions without thinking about what tools we need in order to achieve them successfully? If so, you're not alone.

If you are a cigarette smoker, there’s a strong possibility that your resolution will be to quit smoking for good or to simply reduce your nicotine intake during 2016.

Even with being aware of all the dangers that come hand in hand with smoking, from advertising or actually seeing the effects from those close to us, quitting smoking can still be really hard.

Smoking is still one of the biggest causes of death and illness in the UK

Every year around 100,000 people in the UK die from smoking, with many more living with debilitating smoking-related illnesses. Smoking also increases your risk of developing more than 50 serious health conditions. Some may be fatal and others can cause irreversible long-term damage to your health.

However, you can find out and feel the benefits of stopping smoking very quickly.

After 20 minutes:

Your pulse rate returns to normal.

After 8 hours:

Nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in the blood reduce by more than half and oxygen levels return to normal.

After 48 hours:

Carbon monoxide will be eliminated from your body. Lungs start to clear out mucus and other smoking debris.

After 48 hours:

There is no nicotine in the body. Ability to taste and smell is improved.

After 72 hours:

Breathing becomes easier. Bronchial tubes begin to relax and energy levels increase.

Your health is just one of the reason to quit smoking,. However, this might not be the only reason.

It could be that you cannot afford to smoking any longer.

Smoking is Expensive!

By quitting you will save money! The average smoker has 13 cigarettes a day, which works out as 364 cigarettes a month. That's £141 a month and £1,696 a year that you could be saving big by giving up smoking. That's money that could be spent on an amazing beach holiday.

How To Quit Smoking

One of the biggest errors smokers that want to quit make, is that they try to quit by going completely “Cold Turkey”. This all or nothing approach almost always results in failure.

Quoting from Thomas Glynn, Director of cancer science and trends at the American Cancer Society, he says going “Cold Turkey” when it comes to smoking “Is like tightrope-walking without a net. It is natural to want to try to quit independently. Most people think they can handle quitting on their own, but they typically underestimate how powerful nicotine dependence really is."

This is how electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) can help

Vaping is a brilliant alternative to smoking cigarettes for hundreds of reasons.

More and more people are making the switch from the traditional cigarettes to the electronic variety.

So what are electronic cigarettes? How do they work? What are the benefits? What is Vaping?

Electronic cigarettes or "vaping", is a tool to help you give up smoking by reducing your nicotine intake gradually over time, making it easier to quit and more importantly helps you become a non-smoker.

Vaping is the act of inhaling vapour from a battery powered device, usually called a Vape Kit or Box Mod. The vapour is created by a heating element (called a coil) inside an atomizer. These Vape kits use a viscous liquid called E Liquid or E Juice as the 'fuel'.  Pressing the fire button will heat the coil to a certain temperature and turn the e liquid into Vapour which is then inhaled.

Electronic cigarettes come in a variety of nicotine: 0%, 0.3%, 0.6%, 1.2%, 1.8% and 2.4% for example.

The health benefits to vaping in comparison to smoking tobacco is that there are additional chemicals present in normal cigarette smoking. Vape kits don't produce carbon monoxide, tar, arsenic, ammonia, cyanide and acetone.

Vaping is also safer for the people around you, passive smoking is also damaging the health of those around you. The reduced number of chemicals in an electronic cigarette means that vaping is less dangerous for the people around you. Also, the smell alone is less offensive to others as it usually doesn't give off a scent at all.

New Year Resolution to Quit Smoking

If you change from smoking cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, the cost to smoke e cigarettes is less than the cost of normal cigarettes: FACT. So you can save yourself some extra money to put away for that holiday or that new car you always wanted, or purchase that fancy electronic item that has been on your wish list forever or better still, pay off those debts that have been getting on top of you. Quitting smoking and using vape kits will give you peace of mind, which might even help you with those other New Year Resolutions such as giving up chocolate.

Nah... Why would you want to give up chocolate?
